I spent this week creating the blockout of the main island for our game. Firstly I made sure that I had my level layout nailed down, and my group and I were all happy with it. We agree’d that the black line surrounding the edge of the map was the ‘edge of the world’, but there would be environment past it. The level layout was created in Microsoft Visio. I used the WorldOfLevel design videos on Youtube to get me started with the CryEngine. I basically set my level size, and using the terrain tool, I painted the layout of my level very roughly. Which I then neatened up and made things look more realistic.

After the blockouts were created, we sent them all to David to piece together and start adding the mechanics in, while I got on with the testing methods research.
